Brief History No.5 Rothesay Terrace was designed by John Watherston and Sons and built in the 1890's. It reflects the University Club which was designed by Peddie & Kinnear at Nos. 1&2. These terraced houses pick up from the style of No.3, that was completed by Sydney Mitchell and continue into a sweeping crescent to enclose Rothesay Gardens. Originally the
houses at No.5 and 6 were occupied by the two shipping families of Salverson
and Thomson. Later the building was converted into individual apartments,
with the top apartment at No.5 occupied by Professor Sir Robert Grieve
who gained renouned as a Town Planner on major projects throughout the
Highlands and Central Scotland during the 1960's .
