Brief History No.5 Rothesay Terrace was designed by John Watherston
& Sons and built around the 1890's, it reflects the University
Club design by Peddie & Kinnear at Nos. 1&2. The Terrace houses
pick up from the style of No.3, that was by Sydney Mitchell
and continue into a sweeping crescent to enclose Rothesay Gardens.
Originally the completed houses at No.5 and 6 were occupied by the
shipping families of Salverson and Thomson. Later this
building was converted into individual apartments, when the top apartment
at No.5 was occupied by Professor Sir Robert Grieve who gained some
renowned as a Town Planner with major projects throughout the Highlands
and central Scotland during the 1960's .
